You will then be able to complete your entry. All entries to the awards are free of charge.

Return at any point using your login credentials to manage your account and modify your entry until the closing date.

  • To enter the awards please complete an entry form on the website filling out all relevant fields and uploading your PDF submission for each category. 
  • PDF submissions should be approximately 1000 words fulfilling the category criteria – entries that do not comply will be marked down or rejected
  • Read carefully the description of the category you wish to enter and please check the category criteria to ensure you are eligible to enter.

Tipper Livery of the Year

Trucks and trailers are mobile billboards that should be used by operators to present a strong, positive image of the company and the transport industry to the public. Judges will want to see a modern, stylish livery that gets across its message clearly and effectively. This Award is for a truck, trailer or van livery; extra consideration will be given for a livery that works well across a range of vehicle types and sizes. 

This award is open to third party or own account operators running commercial vehicles.

The judges will want to know:

  • What you set out to achieve with the livery;
  • How you arrived at the design;
  • The benefits to the company and/or wider transport industry.

With your entry you will need to supply good quality colour digital photos of the side and rear views of the livery.

Tipper Haulier of the Year

Entrants for this award will need to show a clear record of sound financial management and an all-round commitment to best practice. The winning company will also need to show the active measures it has taken to improve service levels and how it has grown in both size and profitability.

This category is open to any company running 11 or more vehicles at 18 tonnes GVW or more and operating in the tipping and bulk haulage sector.

The award will be given to the tipper operator that can demonstrate excellence in:

  • Business strategy
  • Professionalism
  • Customer care
  • Safety
  • Training
  • The environment

Tanker Operator of the Year

Are you one of the best tanker operators – own account or third party – in the UK? If so, then prove it by entering the Tanker Operator of the Year 2018.

Entrants in this category will need to demonstrate they have a clear and successful business strategy, an excellent record on safety and legal compliance and a commitment to training and retaining their key assets - the tanker drivers. You will need to demonstrate excellence in the customer service and evidence of innovative thinking that keeps you ahead of the competition.

The award will be given to the tanker operator (excluding petroleum tankers) that can show:

  • a successful business strategy
  • an excellent record of safety and legal compliance
  • a commitment to training and retaining their key assets – the tanker drivers
  • excellence in customer service
  • evidence of innovative thinking that keeps you ahead of the competition

Entry to the Tanker Operator of the Year Award is free and it is open to any company running 11 or more vehicles at 18 tonnes GVW or more and in the road tanker sector.

Tipper Safety Award

Entrants for this award will need to show either an exceptional commitment to all-round operational safety or describe a specific successful initiative designed to improve safety in a particular area of the operation. This category is open only to tipper operators.

Judges will want to see:

For a company-wide safety policy:

  • A brief description of your operation
  • Accident rates for the last three years using standard measures such as accident frequency rates (number of RIDDOR incidents x 100,000 / number of hours worked) benchmarked against industry averages
  • What analysis/review was carried out to improve safety
  • What initiatives were introduced and how
  • The outcome of the initiatives including a reduction in accidents and injuries or other health and safety benefits
  • Top-down commitment to the initiatives

For a specific safety initiative:

  • A brief description of your operation
  • What was the safety issue you needed to address
  • What initiative was introduced and how
  • The outcome of the initiative and how it was measured

Show Innovation Award

The award is open to any Tip-Ex and Tank-Ex exhibitors showing a product or service at the event for the first time. 

The judges will want to see evidence of how creative thinking has been applied to solve a problem. The judges will want to know:

  • What the problem/issue identified was
  • What the innovative solution is and how it was arrived at
  • What significant benefits it delivers

Results of tests and/or field trials should be included where relevant.
